Re: Problem with Malcolm's walk cycle
Thank you, that makes sense! Unfortunately, it still hasn't entirely rectified the problem. :( I tried moving the pole vector controls as recommended, and while it did prevent the legs from buckling backwards, they still stretch out a ridiculous amount and Malcolm is still doing these crazy jumps! (...

Re: Problem with Malcolm's walk cycle
Okay, here are the links! :D Good Malcolm: This is what happens before I apply Cycle>Cycle with offset pre- and post-infinity. I've only animated about halfway through the playblast (the two steps) and I want to keep it cycling accurately. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PmaJPgkgxY Bad Malcolm: This...

Problem with Malcolm's walk cycle
Hello, I've received great tips on the Malcolm rig from here before, and I'm back with another question I was hoping someone might be able to help me rectify. :) I created a simple walk for Malcolm (2 steps) and want it to cycle, moving Malcolm forward. I've gone into Maya's Graph Editor after selec...

Re: Malcolm mesh behaving...interestingly
Hi, I'm sorry for my super delayed response - but thank you for the insight! You were right - bringing in a brand-new, unedited download of Malcolm did the trick. :) My friend and I came to the conclusion that somehow I messed things up when modifying the Malcolm geometry, perhaps too extremely (I'd...

Re: Malcolm mesh behaving...interestingly
Thank you very much for your reply! Uh oh - it certainly can't be a good thing if I'm running into never-before-seen problems! :( Anyway, yes all of the controls are set to zero, aside from the shoulder controls that I rotated to get Malcolm's arms in a more natural position (just for the heck of it...

Malcolm mesh behaving...interestingly
Hi all! I have a few quick questions regarding use of the Malcolm rig. I've posted several screenshots on my old blog (see below link) - does anyone have any idea as to what's going on here? Thank you so very much! http://dvorakamber.wordpress.com/animation/ 1) Mesh deforming weirdly on Malcolm's t-...

Goodness gracious, that was simple! I actually read this and fixed my problem a while ago; just stopping by to give my belated thanks!

Please help! Malcolm importing strangely
Hi! I'm beginning to use this fabulous Malcolm rig for my thesis animation, and I've encountered a problem when I import Malcolm into my main scene file. The controls and everything show fine in the original Malcolm file (aside from the Picker not displaying things, but I suppose that's the price to...

Problems with Picker - help very much appreciated!
Hi all! First off, this rig looks AMAZING . I'm still very new to the 3D animation scene, but I can tell that a lot of time and care went into the creation of Malcolm, and it is very much appreciated. My honors thesis and I thank you in advance! :D Quick question: I'm using Maya 2011 on my Macbook, ...

Re: User Video: How To Install Malcolm
This video was great! It showed me that I was indeed doing everything right, and the bit on changing between IK and FK controls was much appreciated. One question though, if anyone can answer it: on the page where you can originally download Malcolm, it says, under "Malcolm v1.00 for Maya 2009," tha...
